TRITONAL
Tritonal (TRITONAL) is a brilliant BP. A mixture of TNT and powdered or flake aluminum. It is used in high-explosive aerial bombs.
Composition
A mixture of TNT and powdered or flake aluminum
Melting point
Does not have a sharp melting point. At a temperature above the melting temperature of TNT (81° C), aluminum is suspended in molten TNT.
Solubility
TNT dissolves in acetone, ethyl alcohol, benzene or carbon tetrachloride. Aluminum is insoluble in most common solvents.
Toxicity
It is considered a poisonous explosive substance. Explosion fumes are poisonous and should not be inhaled.
Application
It is used in high-explosive aerial bombs.
